Volunteering FAQ
Volunteers are needed beginning Wednesday July 22nd through to Sunday July 26th (the day before until the day after).
You need to be at least 16 years of age as of the day before the festival, which is July 22, 2020.
Volunteers are required to work 16 hours over the course of the festival. We require that individual volunteers pay a $100 refundable deposit in advance. Volunteers are refunded their deposit immediately following the festival, provided they show up to their shifts and generally don't disappear on us.
In addition to the obvious satisfaction of contributing to making this event the best it can be, volunteers will receive the following:
- Complimentary Volunteer Admission to the Festival
- Complimentary Camp Site
- Complimentary Parking Pass
- Howl at the Moon Music Festival Volunteer T-Shirt
- Water provided
- Souvenirs and special offers from Howl at the Moon sponsors (as they become available)
Also, it's become something of a tradition that we like to surprise volunteers, particularly those who we catch going above and beyond, with special experiences whenever we can!
It's pretty simple, really. We take a payment of $100 before the festival because when you check in we're handing over all sorts of stuff - your festival pass, camping pass, parking pass. When you hold up your end of the deal by arriving on time for shifts and fulfilling your duties, we refund the $100 right after the festival.
No, it doesn't. Submitting the application is at no cost to you - it's meant as an introduction and to let us know that you're interested. When you decide to commit you'll pay your refundable deposit at that time.
You are committing to a minimum of 16 hours worked over the course of the festival in exchange for the benefits noted above.
Anyone not fulfilling their volunteer commitments, not abiding by festival rules and regulations, or dropping out after July 8th, will default on their deposit, forgoing a refund.
Causes for default include, but are not limited to:
- Cancelling after July 8th
- Not showing up for a shift for any reason
- Arriving to a shift more than 30 minutes late
- Taking an extended break or disappearing while on duty
- Not abiding by festival rules and regulations
- Not abiding by volunteer program rules and regulations
Absolutely! Whenever possible, we'll do our best to facilitate scheduling you together.
GROUP VOLUNTEERING
We love partnering with community groups and other not-for-profit organizations that may be looking to help out. When partnering with a not-for-profit group, Howl at the Moon Music Festival will provide a contribution in exchange for the work performed by an organization's members, and will put together a package in order to best accommodate the group's volunteers - making the experience smooth and rewarding. If your group is interested in participating, send us an email at volunteers@howlatthemoonfest.com to start the ball rolling.
